Retrograde Waters

Hello. I'm Rose, 20-something Nebraskan. If you want to know more feel free to ask, I'm not going to waste space here.
This is a personal blog that serves as a miscellaneous collection of things I find cute, cool, interesting, and enraging.
I know that all people are equal and deserve the same rights and respect, and I welcome everyone of all and any race, religion, nationality, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, romantic orientation, age, ability, anything else I may have forgotten (let me know!) and any combination or absence thereof. I do NOT welcome discrimination and bigotry. If *I* say or do anything that is offensive or insensitive, please tell me! I try to consider everyone/different perspectives and experiences when speaking, but I could always make a mistake, and educating myself is a constant process: I will be grateful rather than offended to have small-mindedness on my part pointed out. It's the only way I'll know to correct it.
Thank you and have a nice day!
(Blog NSFW: strong language, various topics of discussion, and occasional images of anatomy and/or nudity.)

To the person who put in the picture of Flava Flav to show why Sherlock couldn’t be black,

This is David Oyelowo. He is an amazing actor. He would make an amazing Sherlock if anyone ever gave non-white actors the chance to play classic characters like this.

And believe it or not, I can come up with at least ten more black actors who could play Sherlock well enough to make you love him as much as you love RDJ or Benedict Cumberbatch. I can come up with Indian actors, Chinese actors, Japanese actors, as many POC actors, male and female, who could play Sherlock and Watson because changing the gender and/or race of one of the characters does not “degrade the brand” (and fuck you for that, Steven Moffat).

It is merely another way to interpret the characters, like making them mice or Muppets or basing it in a contemporary setting. If Sherlock Holmes can battle vampires in novels and help out Batman at 108 years old in comics (the two most goddamn ridiculous things I’ve ever heard) without degrading the brand, then I think making Watson a woman isn’t going to do any damage.

Or are you seriously telling me that women and people of color just cannot be as brilliant and competent as white people? Because that’s what all this hue and cry is saying to me, that you honestly think that only white people can be smart and observant detectives and/or loyal, efficient doctors. Think very carefully about what your “Watson can’t be a woman!” message is saying because this is what I’m hearing every time I read your posts.

In the meantime, kindly sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up, and stop acting like you were raised by goddamn feral wolves. When the media is reporting how angry you are over Lucy Liu being cast as Watson, you have officially become embarrassing and need to go sit in a corner and think about what you’ve done.

Now where in the hell is my black James Bond? Get on that, world.

Snow White isn’t the traditional Snow White that you might imagine when you think of her. She’s not a Disney Snow White, she likes to go out there and kick some ass. Did you enjoy bringing that element to the role?

Ahahahaha WHELP

I don’t drink coffee. I guess I can buy their hot chocolate.

Just another reason why I love Starbucks.

And suddenly I don’t feel as guilty paying Starbucks for overpriced coffee…
